I'm Valerie Hawse the maker/designer behind Bluebird Dolls. I make every doll and accessory by hand in my little walk-in closet sewing room. I've been a maker and crafter since I was a child. Sewing has always been my favorite hobby.
I started making cloth dolls for my daughter 4 years ago. Lots of trial and error went into my patterns and techniques, eventually they evolved into the dolls and accessories I am now selling.
Each doll is one of a kind and carefully thought out. I love choosing fabrics and yarn and seeing their unique personalities come to life. Their faces are hand embroidered and each doll has a bluebird embroidered on her back.
I source as many of my supplies as I can locally. I use a mix of new, vintage and upcycled fibers. I use natural fibers as much as I can, mostly cotton and wool.
I hope these dolls spark creativity and that you love them as much as I love making them.
